Five minutes to happier drives! Before driving to any destination I take a few minutes to prepare for the drive. I've learned that taking the following steps really help me to focus and deal with driving situations that become apparent during my trips.
Most of the time I can get all this done in less than five minutes, giving me additional time to get to my intended location (stuff happens). It took me a while to form this routine but I realize that when I didn't perform these one minute tasks my driving experience suffered. Since driving is usually the first and last part of most daily activities I encounter outside my home I prefer safe and pleasant journeys. Maybe you get ready to drive in less time, that’s great! This five minute routine is what helps me keep my eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and drastically reduce the times when I feel the desire to participate in road rage. What do you do before you drive? Share a pre-driving task with us, after all sharing is caring! Safe Travels Deer breeding season is HERE! Five facts to remember:
• Deer are very active and on the move. This is when deer-vehicle collisions are at their peak. • Though deer may wander into suburban neighborhoods, they are most frequently found in heavily wooded areas. • Deer almost never travel alone. If you see one deer, you can bet that there are others nearby. • To avoid a deer-vehicle collision - SLOW DOWN! Make the smart move when you are driving through an area known for high deer populations, drive the speed limit. The more conservative you are with your speed, the more time you will have to brake if an animal darts into your path. • Always wear a seatbelt. The most severe injuries in deer-vehicle collisions usually result from failure to use a seat belt. At Last "At Last" is one of my favorite Etta James songs, It popped into my head when I saw this Rolls Royce at a recent car show. Every time I hear the song I think about how beautiful this car is and start singing. Last night the car and song was in my dream so I decided to shared it with you. Maybe now I can concentrate on getting my Toyota ready for winter.
Safe Travels Operation Safe Driver Week is October 19-25th this year. It's one of two October driving campaigns peace officers use to remind drivers of the importance of driving safely on our roadways. A press release by prweb.com revealed, Last year, law enforcement officers stopped 74,765 commercial and passenger vehicle drivers during the 2013 Operation Safe Driver mobilization week; nearly triple the 26,487 stopped during the 2012 event. The top three reasons warnings and citations were issued were: (1) speeding, (2) failing to use a safety belt, and (3) failure to obey traffic control devices.
Law enforcement officers are gearing up to bring the numbers down. The campaign aims to lower the number of deaths and injuries from crashes involving large trucks and buses and cars. Expect their presence on roads and spread the word, The thirteen actions below will benefit everyone. 1. Wear a seatbelt. 2. Put children in proper restraints. 3. Obey yellow and red lights. 4. Use your turn signal. 5. Know your blindspots. 6. Drive the posted speed limit. 7. Be aware of other drivers and their vehicles. 8. Turn your cell phone off. 9. Be the passenger with a suspended or cancelled license. 10. Be Alert to flashing lights. 11. Yield/stop to emergency vehicles and peace officers. 12. Come to a complete stop at all stop signs. 13. Be the passenger when under the influence of alcohol or other substances. Safe Travels :-) Base price under $7000; available in late 2015, 35,000+ on the list to get one.
